CALL BY THE GOVERNOR OF HONG KONG ON MR RIDLEY : 22 JUNE 1981 : MR RIDLEY'S VISIT TO THE FAR EAST

1. It was noted that the Chinese had difficulties over a date before 20 September. A date after that in September could be precluded if Mr Ridley had to attend Belize Independence cele- brations. The Governor said that he would, of course, fit in with Mr Ridley's wishes but from his own point of view the end of September to 7 October would be less convenient because he was preparing for the Opening of the Legislative Council. agreed that the dates would have to be re-examined, bilities being mid-October, November or December.
