3. The objectives of the Lord Privy Seal's visit

would be:-

a.

to advance

principally for his own familiarisation

with the area;

b.

in China, Japan and Korea, to continue

exchanges at Ministerial level on international

issues of common concern: in Hong Kong to discuss major issues affecting that territing;

to pursue, as appropriate, discussions

on various bilateral issues; and

d.

to support bids by British firms for a

number of important projects, particularly

in Korea and China; and to emphasise in

Japan the importance we attach to a

satisfactory trading relationship.
