Peter Carrington has asked me to reply to your letter of 31 August about your visit to Hong Kong next month.

I have arranged for the Governor, Sir Murray MacLehose, and the Senior British Trade Commissioner, Derek March, to be informed of your plans and of your request for appointments. My officials will get in touch with you as soon as Hong Kong let us know what they are arranging.

I am, of course, delighted to hear of your efforts to promote investment in Northern Ireland. As you know, this

is a field in which the Northern Ireland Department of Commerce take a close interest. No doubt you will be in touch with them before your departure.

You an
