I have been asked to pass the following message to you:
'From John Bremridge, Financial Secretary, Hong Kong
1. The Governor has passed to me Sir Keith Joseph's letter to him of 7 October.
2.
I note that you will be addressing the HKMA Conference on 9 November as will I. I certainly look forward to seeing you at lunch.
3.
There will be no difficulty in producing a list of suitable Hong Kong entrepreneurs for you to meet. In fact many of them will be attending the Conference, and I will arrange with Jack Tang, the Chairman, for a selected short list to be available to you on your arrival here. My thinking (subject of course to your own wishes) is that you might then use this as an immediate introduction, and fix personally with them thereafter suitable times for both talking and perhaps seeing factories etc.
4. Mr wife and I would be very pleased if you would have dinner with us at our house on Wednesday, 11 November. There will be a fair cross section of Hong Kong traders there, and I will let you have a C.VS. on arrival.
5.
Would you like us to arrange anything else for you while you are in Hong Kong, e.g. a visit to the new towns? Or would you prefer to deal ad hoc after your arrival here?'
