I am
of 26th October 1981 to Ian Macpherson. sorry that a reply has been somewhat delayed.
We would like our newly-appointed Science Adviser, Dr John C. Wright, to attend CASTASIA II. Dr Wright's remit is generally to assist Government in improving its understanding of scientific and technological issues and he is located in the Economic Services Branch of the Secretariat. He is employed on a consultancy basis equivalent to D4 in the Directorate Scale. He is not, of course, a minister as such and I wonder whether this would cause any difficulties ? Should Dr Wright be part of the UK delegation ?
We would be grateful to have any further details available on the Conference and would particularly like to know exact times of starting and finishing so that we can plan air travel etc.
