SPEAKING NOTE:
We would like to clarify our standpoints on certain categories of Taiwan films to be shown here in Hongkong:

Those films that have been passed by the Television and Entertainment Licensing Authority and to be shown to the public in local theatres. This has happened before and is also a practice nowadays.
We have no intention to ask for the ban-
ning of such a category.
Films bearing heavy political propaganda such as the film "The Coldest Winter in
Peking". The Hongkong Government has shown her good intention by stopping it from public showing. we express hereby
our appreciation.
3. Those films, including some new and some
old ones, that have been planned to be shown during the so-called Taiwan Film Festival. We do appreciate that the
Hongkong Government had decided not to
allow them to be shown in Government public entertainment places.

To mass up a certain number of films and
try to stage a showing in non-governmental places at a certain duration of time under
the name of a Film Festival. The best de-
cision is to stop doing so as it tends to provide opportunity for Taiwan to create
trouble. This is quite different from
