1. Report of the
Committee of Review, Landlord and Tenant (Consolidation) Ordinance
Purpose
HOUSING BRANCH QUARTERLY PROGRESS REPORT
1ST AUG., 1981 TO 31ST OCT., 1981
To consider the recommendations in the Committee's Report and the extent and timing of their adoption.
Progress Made & Present Position
The recommendations in the Report continued to be examined. Legislation is being drafted to give effect to the following major proposals :-
(a)
the expansion of the Lands Tribunal to provide a reasonable degree of security of tenure to tenants of... premises not otherwise protected by the Ordinance;
(b) the take-over of the Tenancy
Tribunal's functions under the Ordinance by the Lands Tribunal;
(c)
(d)

the adoption of the same system of controlling rent increases in respect of principal tenancies and sub-tenancies; and
the provision of guidelines for the determination of redevelopment cases etc.
Next Quarter's Target
To submit the proposals to ExCo and LegCo for i consideration in the ? form of the Landlord and Tenant
