8 candidates who accepted offers of appointment

as a result of the exercise conducted in the United Kingdom

through the FCO have reported for duty, as has one candidate

to whom an offer was first made in 1980. Five local

officers have also been recommended for appointment by

the Hong Kong Government Office in London offers of

appointment have been made to 3, and one has so far

reported for duty. All 4 principals from the Home Civil

Service who have accepted secondment to Hong Kong as

AOSGC have now arrived, as has Mr. Boyes, a secondee from

the Diplomatic Service.
