Purpose
To develop, consistent with White Paper policy, measures to reduce congestion on the roads by limiting the usage of private vehicles.
Following approval of KMB and CMB applications for fare increases in April, to review bus operations and to re- examine the Agreements con- cluded with both companies in February 1980 and to amend the Public Omnibus Services Ordinance as necessary.
Progress Made & Present Position
Major principles and a package of preferred options have been identified in conjunction with the C.S. and F. and are being studied in detail.
(a) The Sub-groups established
to review KMB operations have continued with their work.
(b) Draft reports by maintenance and spares sub-groups ready. RDP in final preparation. Profit control scheme and depot sub-group ready by end November.
(c) A revised "moderate" route
development programme has been developed and agreed for implementation by KMB.
(d) Initial meetings held by
some sub-groups with CMB.
Next Quarter Targets
Go to ExCo.
(a) Prepare final
reports for submission to TAC and ExCo.
(b)
Achieve full
implementation of
moderate RDP.
