The laying of the submarine cable The began on 10th December 1980. waterjet technique did not work as planned, and arrangements had to be made for a trench to be dredged. Cable laying is not now expected to be completed until the end of March 1981.
The two transformers required for the interconnection project arrived in early January 1981 and are being installed on site.
(iii) The two power companies are
discussing details of the Interconnection Agreement and operating procedures.
(iv)
It is proposed to hold a mid- harbour ceremony on 3 April 1981 FS will to inaugurate the link. officiate.
The Oil Policy Committee has been replaced by an Denrgy Policy Committee with an expanded membership and terms of reference. Briefly, the new committee will be required to consider all questions relevant to Hong Kong's energy supply and consumption (but not including the power companies' schemes of control).
