To investigate develop- ment potential in North Lantau and to co- ordinate departmental efforts on the proposed resiting of the airport to Chap Lap Kok and the proposed fixed crossing linking lantau within the mainland.

PROGRESS MADE & PRESENT POSITION

1. PUBLIC AUCTION : sites were disposed of

totalling 16594 m in all; of these 2 were industrial, one was residential, one was commercial/residential & the remaining site was designated for non-industrial/ hotel use. By district 2 sites were located in each of Sha Tin & Sai Kung and one site in Tai Po.

2. LETTER A/B 1ENDER: 9 sites were disposed

of totalling 267799m in all. These comprised 7 non-industrial sites and 2 industrial sites. By district 5 were located in Sha Tin and 4 in Yuen Long.

3. PUBLIC TENDER: 2 petrol filling station

sites in Sha Tin were tendered.

Appointment of consultants for detailed engineering design being finalised.

NEXT QUARTER TARGET

1. PUBLIC AUCTION : 6 lots are to

be offered for sale totalling 33406m in all. Of these 5 are residential sites and one industrial/godown. By district 3 sites are located in Sha Tin, one in Sai Kung and 2 in Islands.

2. LETTER A/B TENDER: 15 lots arel be offered totalling 84972m in all.

Of these 5 are residential sites, 6 are non-industrial sites and 4 are designated industrial/ godown. By district

located in Sha Tin, 4 in Yuen Lon and 1 in Tai Po.

3. OTHERS: One site of

2400m2 in

Tin is scheduled to be let to Hong Kong Telephone Co Ltd.
