Retention of Officers after 55 years of age
2.
In the light of forecast shortages in experienced
manpower, the Civil Service Branch has reviewed the arrange-
ments for retaining the services of able and experienced
officers after the normal retirement age of 55. This review
resulted in a comprehensive submission to the Governor-in-
Council on 28 April 1980, recommending a new package of
remunerations for officers continuing to serve in Government
after their normal retirement age. In essence, these
officers would be re-employed on agreement terms and their
pensions would no longer be suspended.
Recruitment of Administrative Officers 1981-82
3.
Of the 261 candidates who passed the written
tests on 6 and 7 January 1981 and invited to the preliminary
interviews, 66 candidates were selected for the final
interview. In the end 31 candidates have been recommended
to Public Service Commission for advice on appointment.
The trawl of experienced officer in the Executive Grade has
been completed and five Senior Executive Officers and three
Chief Executive Officers have accepted offers of transfer
to the Administrative Service as Administrative Officers and
AOSGC respectively. Most of them started their trial on 1 April
1981.
