Progress made and present position
(a) The proposal to improve basic Public
Assistance rates was endorsed by Executive Council on 14 April 1981. Finance Committee also approved the necessary funds on 29 April 1981. The increase will be implemented w.e.f. 1 July.
(b) The proposal to improve the maximum level
of rent allowance for Public Assistance recipients was endorsed by Executive Council on 3 March 1981. Finance Committee also approved the necessary funds on 8 April. The increase will be implemented w.e.f. 1 June 1981.
