on Home

To review the Government's Terms of Reference and composition of Home Ownership Programme Working Party under consideration. and to advise on its future direction.

3. Chuk Yuen
Cottage Area Clearance Ph. I
To clear the site for public housing development.

Action complete.
Phase IB of Chuk Yuen Cottage Area clearance operation was carried out on 2.4.81 as scheduled. 3,660 people from B04 families affected by this exercise were rehoused to public housing estates mainly in new estates in East Kowloon. The other 80 families of 169 people went! into Temporary Housing or Primary Housing according to their entitlements. $2 million has been paid out as ex-gratia allowance to eligible operators of workshops, shops and other undertakings. The area has been cleared to make way for a large housing estate that will have 7,900 self-contained flats for about 40,000 people.
