(b) Only 28 ex-China Vietnamese refugees were
repatriated to China.
(c) Among the recommendations of the Refugee
Review Group only the proposed amendments to the Immigration Ordinance and the finalisation of the Camp Rules remain outstand- ing The legislative amendments will impose conditions of stay to ensure that refugees accept reasonable resettlements offers. various times up to 1,500 refugees have indicated refusal to accept resettlement offers. Provision is also included to give legal backing to Camp rules.

(a) On 14.3.81, Shamshuipo Camp closed.
handed over to the Housing Department.
(e) A change of policy has been made to allow
ship rescue cases to remain in H.K. for no longer than 3 months. Whilst in H.K. they will be detained at JRC.
(f) Jubilee Buildings converted into a Reception Centre and become operational on 25.3.81. CRRC closed on that date and will be held in
reserve.
Next Quarter's Targets
(b) To continue to press
CPG authorities to accept repatriation of the remaining 2,545 ex-China Vietnamese refugees.
(c) The draft Bill was
introduced into LegCo on 13.5.81. The Camp Rules are being drafted by Legal Department and are scheduled to be gazetted by 31.5.81. To establish the procedures and get the systems
working if they are found to be necessary.
(e) To convert part of JRC
to provide for detention facilities for ship
rescue cases; refusal to accept resettlement offer cases and for refugees who break Camp rules repeatedly.
(f) To monitor and if needs be, improve the various facilities and services provided at the JRC.
