The
Retention of officers after 55 years of age
14.
Arrangements for retaining the services of able and
experienced officers after the normal retirement age of 55
have now been introduced, and the new scheme came into effect
on 1 June 1981. Briefly, this gives an officer the opportunity
to retire and draw the commuted portion of his pension, and
immediately be re-employed on agreement terms. On re-employment,
he would be eligible to receive a contract gratuity on
satisfactory completion of his agreement, or alternatively, he
may elect to receive his monthly pension in lieu of the gratuity.
Structure of the Directorate
15.
The Finance Committee has approved the re-creation
of the rank of Administrative Officer Staff Grade Bl at the
D4 level. The detailed implementation of the proposal to
restructure the Directorate into 'open' and specialist streams
is still under consideration.
Housing Assistance for Civil Service
16.
A home purchase scheme and a housing loan scheme
were approved by Executive Council and Finance Committee in
June and July respectively, and have now been announced to staff.
Implementation arrangements are now in hand and it is expected
