Purpose
To produce a new high security version of the H.K. Identity Card.
Progress made and present position
(4) Finance Committee approved the creation
of a new Special Expenditure Subhead "District Board election expenses" under Head 106 Miscellaneous Services with a commitment and supplementary provision of $1,460,000 to meet expenses for the New Territories District Board elections in March 1982.
ExCo approved, subject to F.C.'s voting funds, a project for GP, in conjunction with Director of Immigration and Government Chemist, to produce a new high security I.D. Card to commence issuing in 1982. GP has been examining security features and suitable security paper.
Next quarter target
(4) Plan for the holding
of the elections in March 1982.
