20. Para-medical training
21. Queen Mary
Hospital
(QMH)
Purpose
To provide training facilities in certain of the para-medical fields, and to intro- duce legislation for controlling certain para-medical professions.
(a) To increase the
clinical staff at QMH, to review the long term staffing requirements, and to examine whether the integrated system proposed for the Prince of Wales Hospital should be adopted for use at QMH.
(b) To expand and
improve the
facilities at QMH.
Progress made and present position
(a) A meeting with UPGC, Secretariat
Medical & Health Department and the Polytechnic on 28 June agreed terms of reference and membership of the proposed Co-ordinating Committee on Para-medical Studies.
(b) The views of the Supplementary
Medical Professions Council and of the relevant professional Board are being sought on the draft Medical Laboratory Technicians (Registration & Disciplinary Procedures) Regulations 1980.
(a) The draft report has been

revised in the light of further comments from UPGC, DMHS and HKU A meeting will be held shortly to discuss the revised draft.

(b) Consultant architects have been appointed and action is in hand to set up a Project Co-ordinating Committee.
Next quarter target
To appoint Members and
convene first meeting in January 1982.

drafting instruc- tions for the Regulations of the other pro- fessions.
