Establish-
ment of Departmental Environmental Control Units (ENV 55/10/46)
Propose
To administer and control Country Parks and Special Areas.
To ensure the provision of re- sources for the establishment of Control Units in PWD, USD, LD and AFD, to implement and enforce environmental protection legislation and to provide supporting services in other departments such as the RO.
Progress Made & Present Position
f) Standards of provision for commercial
and retail facilities : Revised methodology for determining retail provision circulated to departments by TPO for comments.
All remaining management centres are under construction. Requests for staff being regularly processed through AFD DEC. Consideration being given to establishment of similar centres in certain Country Parks.
Recruitment is proceeding for the PWD Pollution Control Division. UC has approved in principle the formation of the Noise & Vibration Control Unit; papers are now being prepared for USD DEC. Conversion of LD Air Pollution Control Division's staff to EPO grade and increased establishment generally supported. RO's Air Pollution Meteoro- logical Research Unit is being streng- thened.
