(d) Departments should, however, be prepared to

refute inaccurate or biased public statements issued by pressure groups and, with the advice of HAIG, bo prop red to be aggressive (para. 32);

(a) Consideration should be given by Departments most

affected by pressure groups to appoint a senior officer to deal specifically with them (para. 36);

() Pressure group activities should also be met by

an intensification of Government community building efforts, and by selectively enlisting individuals from the groups to Government advisory boards and committoes (pores. 37-38);

(g) Closer contacts with student bodies and tertiary

educational institutions should be built up as

soon as possible; in this respect, the Steering Group on Student Activities should be revitalised (pras. 39-40);

(h) SCOPG under the chairmanship of the Home Affairs

Branch should continue to monitor pressure groups, collate information on their activities and bo answerable to CSC (paras. 40-41).
