UNIVERSITY OF THE WEST INDIES
January 15, 1981.
Dr. Basil Ince,
Director,
Institute of International Relations, University of the West Indies,
St. Augustine, TRINIDAD' W.I.
Dear Dr. Ince,
I now have the support of both the Governor and the Chief
Minister for a seminar on Alternative to. Independence. I also
have the assurance of Government's participation. In fact, attempts are being made to have an observer/participator from the British
Government, perhaps from the Foreign and Commonwealth Office.
I am suggesting either March or April, if you can make any
of these dates. Let me have your early reaction and your ideas for
the seminar format. Are we, for instance, talking about 3 days? As I see it, participants could include the Governor, Government
Ministries (4), Permanent Secretaries (7), Heads of Government
about 3 University Centre Part-time Tutors. But that is merely
writing off the cuff. In any case, it gives you an idea of the kind
of people I can assemble.
Kind regards.
c.c. His Excellency,
The Governor.
Yours sincerely,
(Sgd.) H.A. Fergus,
Resident Tutor.
Resident Tutor.
