AND DHEKELIA
On one or two occasions recently the Cyprus Sovereign
seem to
Base Areas have been overlooked in papers of general interest to dependent territories. Although administered by MOD,
the Sovereign Base Areas are dependent territories, with a
resident local population. This should be borne in mind
when matters of general concern to dependent territories
are under consideration, or circular telegrams to dependent
territories are being drafted. Papers or telegrams which
may be of concern to the Sovereign Base Areas Administration
should be copied to Mr Preston, DS11, MOD (218 3625); he
will arrange their transmission to the SBAs if he thinks
appropriate.
