Dear Patterson
APPOINTMENT TO HONG KONG
2
1. Please refer to your letter INDIV of 29 January and the draft memorandum of conditions of service enclosed with it. I have a number of queries:
(a) I understood that the appointment was to be for three
years and that I should be entitled to home leave each year. I think that such arrangements for the Political Adviser and Assistant Political Adviser were agreed upon in 1975.
(b) Will I be entitled to AIRS - there being a strong chance
that we would want a UK nanny for the third child we wish to have.
(c) The letter says that the transfer of funds to Hong Kong
will be my responsibility, but the memorandum implies that I may cash a sterling cheque with the British Trade Commission. Could you confirm that I shall be able to present a regular monthly cheque to the Trade Commission?
