Dear Dennis,
DIR
In my letter of 3 July, I said that I would write again about the letter you had received from the Hong Kong Social Workers' General Union.
Since 29 April, the date of the enclosure to your letter, there have been significant developments enabling the Union to gain the sort of access they are seeking to the review machinery. Following the Union's representations to the Office of the Unofficial Members of the Executive and Legislative Councils, the Director of Social Welfare wrote to the Union on 23 June inviting them once again to forward their views for the Steering Committee's consideration or to meet with the Working Group.
I understand that the Union have also written to the Social Welfare Department in Hong Kong and have agreed to a meeting to discuss various subjects relevant to the extension of the Welfare Class Review to the voluntary sector.
