Benefits for which married female officers are

not presently eligible

Under present policy, married female officers are

not eligible for the following benefits enjoyed by male officers (or unmarried, divorced or legally separated female officers) :

(a) housing benefits (i.e. non-departmental quarters,

private tenancy allowance, hotel accommodation,

house allowance, or admission to co-operative housing schemes) for the officer and his family;

(b) local and overseas education allowances (including

school passages) for the officer's family;

(c) medical and dental benefits for the officer and

his family under the Government Medical and Dental Service (except that children of married

female officers born in a Government hospital

may receive free medical treatment for a period of six months from birth); and

(a) for officers on overseas terms of service, vacation

leave passages and associated baggage and travelling

expenses for the officer and his family. A married female officer (but not members of her family) is eligible for these benefits only if she is not

eligible for the same under the terms of her

husband's employment.

NOTE : "Family" normally includes the officer's wife, sons

under the age of 19, and unmarried daughters under

the age of 21.
