Honourable Members will be asked :-

to note the results of the PIU's Pay Trend Survey Report for 1979-80 (paragraphs 4

-

7);

to advise whether the results of this survey should be applied to existing pay scales, modifications being limited to those necessary for structural reasons, or whether some other approach should be adopted by the Administration in discussions in the Senior Civil Service Counci; (paragraphs 11 - 19);

to advise whether the recommendation of the Standing Committee on Directorate Salaries and Conditions of Service for a tapered adjustment to Directorate scales should be adopted (paragraph 26);

to advise whether separate announcements in respect of the several structural revisions approved on the one hand, and the service-wide pay adjustment for 1980-81, on the other, should be made (paragraphs 27 - 30).

(The Secretary for the Civil Service (Mr Martin ROWLANDS), the Deputy Secretary for the Civil Service (Mr James SO) and the Principal Assistant Secretary for the Civil Service (Mrs Jane MUIR) will attend before the Council for the discussion of this item).
