authorities that they comply with these laws and regulations are liable to be refused leave to enter or land.

(ii) The competent British and Turkish authorities reserve the right to refuse leave to enter or stay in their respective territories in any case where the person concerned is considered undesirable.

(d) Either Government may suspend temporarily the foregoing provisions in whole or in respect of any territory to which the present Agreement applies for reasons of public order and the suspension shall be notified through the diplomatic channel.

(e) (i) The present Agreement shall enter into force on April 1st, 1960. on which date the Agreement constituted by the Exchange of Notes of the 9th of October, 1952, shall cease to have effect together with the Exchange of Notes of the 13th of December, 1955, concerning the extension of that Agreement to Gibraltar.(") The arrangements concerning Turkish citizens travelling to Malta set out in my prede- cessor's Note No. 646 of December 3, 1957, shall not be affected by the present Agreement.

(ii) The present Agreement may be denounced by either Government

subject to one month's notice in writing.

3. If the foregoing provisions are acceptable to the Government of the Republic of Turkey I have the honour to suggest that the present Note and the Annex thereto, together with Your Excellency's reply in that sense, should be regarded as constituting an Agreement between the two Govern- ments in this matter.
