NOTE VERBALS
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs present their compliments to Her Britannic Majesty's Embassy and, with reference to the Embassy's Note Verbale No 164 of 23 May 1980, which referred to their Note Verbale No.lol of 14 March 1980, have the honour to inform them that, since the date on which Notes Verbales were exchanged between the Ministry and the Embassy in May 1960, that is, 20 years ago, the circumstances have changed.
For their part the British authorities agreed in those Notes to the abolition of visas for Spanish subjects from "African Provinces", this no longer being relevant.at the present time.
On the other hand, in those Notes Verbales the Spanish authorities for their part abolished the visa requirement for British subjects coming from other territories which today are independent States.
In view of the foregoing, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs cannot consider applicable the arrangements proposed in Notes Verbales 164 of 23.5.80 and 101 of 14.3.80.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs avail themselves of this opportunity to renew to Her Britannic Majesty's Embassy the assurance of their highest consideration.
