The figure of illegal immigrants from China claiming to have evaded the patrols since repatriation started on 30 November 1974 until 23 October 1980 is now 189,094. Various evasion ratios covering different periods since the start of repatriations until 23 October 1980 appear at Appendix A. The Census & Statistics Department estimate of the evasion ratio for October 1980 onwards is no longer available following the change of immigration policy.

At Appendix B are tables showing figures of legal and illegal entrants from China from 1972 up to 23 October together with an estimate from the Census & Statistics Department of total new entrants from 1975 up to September 1980.
