The figure of illegal immigrants from China claiming to have evaded the patrols since repatriation started on 30 November 1974 is now 152,537. Various evasion ratios covering different periods since. the start of repatriations appear at Appendix A. The Census & Statistics Department estimate of the evasion ratio (including Macao elements) for May 1980 is 1 0.9 compared with 1 : 1.0 (revised) for April 1980.

At Appendix B are tables showing figures of legal and illegal entrants from China from 1972 to date together with an estimate from the Census & Statistics Department of total new entrants from 1975 to date.
