1. I gave the suggested amendments to the draft statement to Mr Lee this morning. I told him that you will probably write a follow-up letter on the lines of the attached. I had sent him two days ago a crude first draft covering some of the points which I have listed in the draft, and I ran through them again this morning. What is now in the draft is a more refined version which I think will appeal to SASD and perhaps other FCO departments. therefore sending them copies of this minute and the draft for any comments they may wish to make.
