CITIZENSHIP OF THE BRITISH DEPENDENT TERRITORIES:

TRANSITIONAL PROVISICKS

6.1

General

:

6.11 Citizenship of the British Dependent Territories is to be

acquired on the coming into force of the new Act by those citizens

of the United Kingdom and Colonies who have a close connection with a territory which is at that time a dependency (as to which see paragraph 1.8 above).

6.12 As mentioned in paragraph 1.13 above it will be possible for a person to be both 2 citizen of the British Dependent Territories

and a British citizen; but British (verseas citizenship will not normally be held together with either of these citizenships.

6.2 People who beccze citizens of the Fritish Denendent

Territories

6.21 A person is to become a citizen of the British Dependent

Territories if

(a) he is a citizen of the United Kingdon and Colonics

by virtue of his birth, naturalisation or registration

in an existing dependency;

or

(b) he is a citizen of the United Kingdom and Colonies

born to a parent who had thīvi citizenship at the time

of the birth, and that parent either -
