The proposal to declare Sam Tung Uk Village in Tsuen Wan a monument under the Antiquities and Monuments Ordinance is likely to be favourably received by both news media and the general public, particularly in Tsuen Wan. No adverse reaction is expected.

aims and advantages of preserving the site.
Advice sought

Members will be asked to advise whether Sam Tung Uk Village as shown on the annexed plan should be declared a monument under section 3(1) of the Antiquities and Monuments Ordinance (Chapter 53), by reason of its historial significance.
(The Director of Urban Services (Mr B, D, WILSON) will
attend before the Council for discussion of this item).
