UNHCR EXECUTIVE COMMITTEE MEETING:

16 OCTOBER 1980
1. As forecast in paragraph 5 of Mrs Anderson's minute of 29 August, I should be grateful if recipients of this minute would expand and update the briefs already prepared for the Refugee Item (No 78) of the UN General Assembly and/or provide additional briefing in accordance with the attached list. These are required by close of play on Friday, 26 September. This is a very real deadline which gives the minimum possible time to assemble the briefing for UKMis Geneva.
2. The briefs should be reasonably detailed in the following form:
a)
UK Aims - a very short and clear statement of UK aims and interests.
b) Points to Make
this should list the main
points or themes we need to get across during the meeting.
c) Background
this should be self-contained and sufficiently full to allow a newcomer to operate effectively.
d)
Annexes
D
a limo a relevant UK resclubs ins and documents together with the texts. This must be accurate and up-to-date.
ii) a list of references to useful
British statements.
3. I am copying to recipients of this minute Mr McInnes' letter · of 17 September which he hopes will be of help in the preparation of the briefs.
