1. Miss Adams in the Embassy in The Hague enquired on the telephone this morning whether any further discussions had taken place about arrangements for these talks to be held in The Hague on 26 and 27 November.

2.

We agreed that the first step would be for her to seek a proposed agenda from Mr Hoytink which I could then circulate to the Asian departments here. If we had any additional proposals we could feed them in at that stage. She will drop me a line in the next day or two.

3. With regard to practical arrangements she said that the Ambassador and Mr Hervey had both indicated readiness to provide accommodation for our participant(s). I told Miss Adams that no decision had yet been taken about whether you would be accompanied. Miss Adams has volunteered herself as our note- taker for the talks and I said we readily accepted the offer. Miss Adams also said that Mr Hervey would like to take part at the beginning of the talks and would hope to be included in Mr Hoytink's lunch. I said that I was sure that you would be agreeable to this.

4. This minute will, I hope, serve as a reminder to the Asian departments that you will be expecting briefing in due course. Talks with the French and with the Germans on Asia are being pursued separately.
