They now include family reunion cases into their quota which stands about 500 refugees. Government is at present considering future
admissions.
He, therefore, thinks that we have come at the right time. He took note of all our facts and figures and promised to bring Hong Kong's case to the attention of his Government. The Foreign Office and the Ministry of Justice are mainly involved in matters of policy. We especially stressed Hong Kong's willingness to prepare refugees for going to Denmark through country orientation and language training.
This aroused his special interest.
Mr. Christensen, in turn, stated that our visit will be the subject of
a discussion of his Board. He will ask his Board to appeal to Government
to give Hong Kong special consideration - outside of the few family
reunion cases who may be in Hong Kong.
We gained the impression that all present were in favour of assisting
Hong Kong in its present situation.
