Resettlement Measures for Indochinese Refugees
and Displaced Persons
The Government of Japan will take the following measures to further promote the resettlement of Indochinese refugees
and displaced persons.
1.
Expansion of the Resettlement Target Figure
The Government of Japan will expand the target figure for realizing resettlement in Japna from the past 500 to 1,000 and make further efforts for promotion of resettlement. 2. Relaxation of the Requirements for Resettlement
The following are the revised requirements for resettle- ment in Japan of Indochinese refugees and displaced persons now temporarily staying in Asian countries.
(1)
The spouse, parent or child of a Japanese national; or a relative of a Japanese national or of an alien who resides lawfully in Japan, who is recognized as being capable of living in mutual support (including adopted child)
(2) A person who comes under any one of the following categories and who has a sure guarantor or who is expected to take up any employment which is considered to be sufficient to support himself, as well as; that person's spouse, parent, child, or other accompanying relative who is recognized as being capable of living in mutual support
(a) A person who had once been employed by a Japanese diplo- matic mission or enterprise abroad for a considerable period
(b) A person who had lawfully resided in Japan for a con- siderable period as a student, or trainee, or under other
status
(c) A person who had once been hired as a personal emplyee by a Japanese national for a considerable period
(d) A person who had studied the Japanese language, vocational techniques, judo, etc. from Japanese experts or members of the Japan Overseas Cooperation Volunteers at technical
