Mr Ian Wrigglesworth (Teesside, Thornaby): To ask the Lord Privy Seal, how many Vietnamese refugees are still resident in Hong Kong; and when it is now expected that they will be resettled.
My Peter Klaken
On the 20th of May there were 39,695 Vietnamese refugees in
Hong Kong awaiting resettlement.
At a projected rate of
3,000 persons per month, and provided that there is no increase
in the average of 10. new arrivals a day since the 1st of January
1980, it will take until August 1981 to resettle them elsewhere.
