The numbers under detention represents the number of Vietnamese Refugees

who have been settled in China before coming to Hong Kong illegally.

10,150 refugees have arrived since 1st January, 1980. The increase

of 66 since 26th August is due to the arrival of three small boats.

3. UNHCR has resettled 25,369 refugees since 1st January of which 539 in

the past week.
