articles of the International Covenant on Civil and Political

Rights have been violated: Articles 1, 21 and 22. In fact, the labour rights of the Hong Kongworkers are very much ignored. Many of the ILO Conventions and Recommendations are not

enforced; and if there were ratified, the actualisation is

another matter. The local labour laws are not enforced efficiently and not observed by the management wholeheartedly. For the politically and economically stronger ampinyers, workers are easily dispensable with minimum cost. Thus, many workers have been killed or hurt unnecessarily because the management does not comply with the safety measures and the compensation paid to the injured or his dependants are just mininal. fine imposed for violating laws is also very little, when
