Placing disabled people in open employment

at présent undertaken by the Social Welfare Department and voluntary agencies. In April 1980, a co-ordinated and centralised Selective Placement Service for the physically disabled, including the blind and the deaf, is to be established in the Labour Department. This service will expand to cater for the mentally and socially handicapped in stages over the next five years.

125. For the disabled who cannot find open employment, sheltered workshops are provided. There are now 1,263 places in sheltered workshops and these are to be increased to 4,575 by 1988.
