The sale of children

(m) The Sub-Commission should invite UNICEF, the High Commissioner for Refugees, and the International Committee of the Red Cross to provide information to the Working Group concerning the sale of children for adoption.

(n) The Sub-Commission should condemn adoption practices based on financial considerations in disregard of the welfare of the children involved, and call for an immediate end to all such practices, in particular as they affect refugee children.

The slavery-like practices of apartheid and colonialism

(o) The Sub-Commission should strongly condemn the labour practices of the Government of South Africa, which constitute a modern form of slavery.

(p) The Sub-Commission should continue to study the question of apartheid as

a slavery-like practice, and place it as a separate item on its agenda.

(a) The Sub-Commission should investigate the various forms of exploitation of children under apartheid.

The traffic in persons and the exploitation of the prostitution of others

(r) The Sub-Commission should bring the report on the exploitation of child prostitution in Brazil to the attention of the Government of Brazil for comment.

s) The Sub-Commission should bring the reports concerning abuses against women under the dowry system to the attention of the Government of India for comment.

(t) The Secretary-General should be requested to invite member States to give publicity to cases of the traffic in persons so that people may be responsibly persuaded of the dangers which exist.

IV. ADOPTION OF THE REPORT

The Working Group adopted its report at its fourth meeting, held on 24 August 1979.
