Thank you for your Letter of July about the visit to Japan by Mr John MacGregor and Mr John Cope in October, and for giving me information on their programme.
Mr Cope will not now be going because the number in the party has been reduced, and is reserve in the event of anyone withdrawing.
He has, however, been invited by Mr Tebbit to go, with his wife, on the British Caledonian Inaugural Flight to Hong Kong, leaving on 1st August and staying in Hong Kong for about a week.
The Chief Whip would like Mr Cope to do this, and would be grateful for approval.
