Ming Pao: "The triangular relationship between China, Britain
and Hong Kong is quite delicate ..... the U.N. commission
handling affairs involving colonies has taken care to exclude Hong Kong from the list of colonies ..... the practice accepted by most nations has been that flights between two countries are
open to an airline of the two countries involved. The decision
by the British CAA was apparently based on the presumption that
Hong Kong is a colony
discrimination has been raised to
the political level .... Cathay Pacific has been sharing
benefits on an equal basis with other countries, yet it has
been denied the same right by Britain for no other reason
than treating Hong Kong as a colony of Britain."
Ming Pao Evening News: "Hong Kong has been trying to look after
the interests. of Britain. And most of the big orders were placed
in Britain, e.g. the Mass Transit Railway, buses and naval boats.
But Britain to the contrary does not want to leak out any benefits
to Hong Kong."
Sing Pao: "We hope the CAA will give deep reconsideration to its
decision for the mutual benefit of Hong Kong and Britain. It
will be very unwise for Britain to treat Hong Kong as a colony.'

Wen Wei Pao: "There is only one explanation to the CAA's decision
partiality."
