It would appear that there are, as is waal, difformeen between Feking and Guangdong. The former way well feel that they of France at least the first nuclear reactor. Gungdong has no reason to have such a predilection and is porbicularly conveion: of the importance of the CLF connection and the need to recurs finance for the project both from foreign long secured through Hong Kong and the sale of electricity to liong Kong. It is Bio latter aspect which given the UK a major leverage on the project. The financial aspects of the project will also be of great concern to Teking and the ability to generate foreign exchange to repay loans through the sale of electricity will be an important consideration.

Conclusion

We do not know precisely what agreement has been reached between the French and the Chinese. Nor do we know if there is any connection between that agreement and our project in Guangdong. We are doing what we can to find out and assess the implications. An Anglo-French venture with the French sup`ying the nuclear reactor has always been one option. It may now be the preferred route. In any event our strengtha notably the CLF connection and the Chinese desire to finance the project through the sale of electricity to Hong Kong remain and we shall use those levers in discussions.

In such a large and complicated project where the stakes are so high there will inevitably be many a slip 'twixt cup and lip and many attempts to snatch the cum from us. We have establimbed a strategy with CLP which gives us the best chance of securing project, and we will pursue that.
