The Hong Kong Government in principal supports the concept of a
nuclear power station supplying electricity to the colony. It also
supports the UK's attempts to secure the maximum UK manufacturing content
provided crediability is not to be called into question through a late
opposition to the project on nuclear grounds. The Hong Kong Government
would however require satisfactory agreements to be reached on safety
end environmental issues, security of supply and tariff structures which fully
thatthe Hong Kong consumers interests were protected. The Hong Kong
Government is content to leave discussion of these issues largely to
Sir Lawrence Kadoorie and the CLP team on the one hand and KEC on the
other. These organisations have recently established a joint Steering
Group with 4 sub committees which will investigate and report on the
following matters:
1.
Method of joint development, management, financial and economic
analysis;
2.
Site investigation and selection;
30 Selection of nuclear reactors, turbo-generators and consultants;
