CLP advised that other countries (e.g. U.K.) might be able to make similar arrangements as France (i.e. exempt from nuclear inspection and provide fuel) and suggested to leave the option open for the time being.
The possibility of using French reactors and U.K. turbogenerators was discussed. KEC expressed preference for complete installation from one supplier to facilitate operation, maintenance and keeping spare equipment.
The choice of equipment would be considered in detail by the Working Committee.

System Design and Development Program
Sir Lawrence's comments on system design and development were given on page 24 of the Agenda.
The system design and development aspects were discussed. KEC suggested that when considering the unit sizes, capacity of the total system in ten years' time should be considered. KEC envisaged that by the time when the nuclear power station was commissioned, the total system would comprise the following power systems :
Kwangtung/Kwangsi System 8000 China Light System Hongkong Electric System
10000 MW
4000 1500
-
5200 MW
G
2000 MW
Total 13500
-
17200 MW
With a total capacity of about 15000 MW, KEC considered that 1000 MW units could be accommodated without affecting the stability and secure operation of the system.
The system design and development program would be studied in detail by the Working Committee.

Management of Nuclear Power Station
Sir Lawrence's comments on management was given on page 26 of the Agenda.
Nuclear power station management and staff training were discussed. KEC suggested that the managerial, engineering, operation, maintenance and fuel- handling staff should be trained in the country which supplied the equipment and on plants similar to the those supplied.
The managerial structure, origin and training of staff for the nuclear power station would be considered in detail by the Working Committee.
