COMMERCIAL IN CONFIDENCE
The environmental aspects of siting provoked considerable discussions and it will be important to undertake the preparation of a paper in the U.K. and to have further detailed discussions on this important aspect with KEC. A Itative arrangement was made for these discussions to take place towards
the end of June.
Although no rigid timescale for meetings was agreed it seems that the Site Selection Sub-Committee will need to meet at approximately monthly intervals, but when the final paper is being assembled in September/October, considerable extra effort will be required.
The discussions with KEC were held in a very friendly atmosphere. There were however some differences of opinion which seemed to result from a difference of approach. KEC as might be expected tended to adopt a somewhat theoretical outlook, although they had done an impressive amount of work. The CLP team however was somewhat more pragmatic and at the end, the leader of the Chinese team from Peking stated how pleased he was to have benefited from the practical outlook of the CLP team.
Both sides appeared to be well pleased with the progress made at the meetings.
