Dear Mr. Senn,
I write this in the hope that, through your good offices, I can make a successful bid to have Lord Carrington spare time to come and lunch at the Foreign Correspondents' Club (FCC) in Hong Kong and talk to us for, say, 20 minutes when he passes through in the New Year.
The FCC is 32 years old: our last (Asian) premier who did this was Kriangsak of Thailand; our last speaker was Herman Kahn, the futurologist; Sir Murray Maclehose, the Governor,
is our most distinguished patron; and probably most important of all, none of note from Britain has managed to fit us in since Sir Harold Macmillan was here.
Could you please do your best to ask the Foreign Secretary to do this for us?
Yours sincerely,
Macha
Donald Wise President
