I am grateful to Mr Morrice for letting me see these briefs.
We have already discussed them and you have taken note of one or two suggested amendments. I agree that we also need briefs on the Chinese proposal for a Visa Office in Hong Kong and on the future site for an airport because of the congestion at Kai Tak.

I have also had a brief word with Sir E Youde who is content that the briefs may now be made in their final form for the Secretary of State, with the exception of Briefs Nos 10 (Illegal Immigration), 11 (Future of Hong Kong) and 14 (The Guangdong Nuclear Power Project). He would wish to see these in draft.
4.
Sir E Youde also agreed that we should erase the last sentence in paragraph 3 of the 'Essential Facts' attached to Brief No 12. He would be happy to take a note with him so that he can brief the Secretary of State privately at some suitable opportunity.
5.
I would be glad to have a set of the final briefs.
